Something unexpected happened at the art market this weekend: one of my rings was stolen right from the table a market
It was only an $80 ring, but it was handmade by me, like everything I make. And while it’s just one item, I wanted to share this story because it’s a small example of how much every piece matters to a small business.
When something is lost or taken, it’s not just the ring, it’s the time, the effort, the materials, and a bit of heart that goes with it. Small businesses often work already in small margins, so any piece stolen is a big deal.
This won’t stop me from showing up at markets but it is a gentle reminder:
Support small makers when you can
Keep an eye out for one another
And never underestimate the value of kindness
Thanks so much for being here, for supporting handmade, and for continuing to show up for the creative community. You all make this work so worth it, even when one person decides to take from a small business.
